Writing Programs - Any one out there stumbled on the 'best writing program ever'?

So again I have copied and pasted the entire contents of a Word document in to a fresh doc and resaved it to get rid of all the extra rubbish that Word adds each time you save which makes it slower.

(Not to mention the old "I added a single word and it blew all my formatting,  pictures and chapter breaks and all the other cool things I have done, do now I have to stuff about fixing it all...".)

An I am wondering if there is a better way of doing it. What writing programs to other people use? I know that LaTeX is a good one for engineers and mathmaticians because it doesn't spoil their nice equations but is there a better one for writers out there?

Any one out there stumbled on the program-to-end-all-programs?

WRITING SOFTWARE

HI,
I thought that this link my help you in your quest.
http://www.masterfreelancer.com/software-for-writers.php
The reviews I've read on line really shine up Dramatic Pro 4 but I really think you will probably have to try a few to see what software works in sync with yourself.
Hope it helps I have experimented with a few but it comes down to whether your very visual spatial or more structured in thought.
Cheers, Effie

Thanks!

I'll have a scratch about and see what they are like. anyone else tried any of them?

Good Creative Writing software

There  is a strong possibility I have already posted this but I found a nice little cache of FREE programs from www.spacejock.com. The guy who designed them is both a creative writer and a software developer so he knows what writers want and need.

The most beneficial I have found are:

yWriter (writing program where you can record other details like characters and locations as well as print a chapter by chapter synopsis and set word targets)

yBook (basically a e-book reader) and

Sonar3 (program to help you track submissions to journals and publishers)

Another good one for outlining novels (thesis, exegesis, your life etc) is FreeMind that you can access from the Spacejock site.

Hope these help!
