AAWP STUDENT EDITOR INTRO – 01MAR10

Hi everyone: welcome to March, month of Saint David and Saint Patrick, month of transitions.

I, Barbara M Edwards, PhD candidate at Swinburne Uni, Victoria, put my name up to be Student Editor for this month.

Because I am completely lost in this blog stuff I thought I might take the chance to ask a few questions to prompt one or two contacts.

1.  What doesn't fit in with the phrase 'writing practice'? (Spelt with a 'c' or an 's'.) Does getting paid rule it out? Does needing research for the paid work (rather than just taking a spade to the grey matter) count?

2.  Are we students 'living the Exygesis' until we can compile it? And is the journal worth its weight in gold?

3.  Does my belief that creative writing is the H1.5 in social theory make sense of combining creativity and theory?

That's my first effort as editor. Did I do good, do right, do write?

Cheers for now and regards

BME

Hi BME

You did good, grrl and avoided a Haiku in your first blog... well done! Seems that there is an article which will  make your month's discussion forum really take off. Must sign off and read todays ALR as that is where I am assuming the column is... back soon colleagues.
