Philosophy of Supervision: Supervisors have to be informed, organised, sensitive and proactive (and so do students). They collaborate with students in establishing the framework for the candidature, but they do not superimpose their own identity on the project. Supervisors help candidates to remain on track, administer so that the candidature runs smoothly and encourage when spirits almost always flag somewhere in the middle of the experience. They pass on information about publishing and conference opportunities as well as funding. If all goes well, they enjoy the submission party!
