All downhill from now folks. Still almost last thoughts.
Bought an ABC Radio National audio tape of interviews with various crime writers. The talk with Martin Cruz Smith (October 2000) struck a note after reading the TREND articles referred earlier.
Cruz Smith – who writes 'following the rhythmic styles of poets Ted Hughes and Seamus Heaney' – heard from his son about a seminar discussing the movie Vertigo. The whole of the discussion was about whether the film was sexist or not; the actual filmic values, eg, story telling, angles of shot (some magnificent incidentally), dialogue etc were never mentioned. Lots of article potential here?
He also mentions that, like my father (and me), he admires Orwell for being honest with himself rather than just following 'theories'. I like his writing, particular the 'rules' with the last one being to 'break any of these rules sooner than saying anything outrageous.'
Re Carol's early disappointment abut haiku
Well, 'tis 31MAR10. Finally reached the bottom of the hill for the editing task. Because Carol commented on an early omission I will sign off with the following helpful thought:
Always keep a note
When inspiration strikes - or
Scalding tears will fall.
Keep the pencils filled and the pens sharpened; may your scribblings be readable and your coffee fresh.

Haiku
Knew you couldn't last the month without one... and such a nice sign off Barbara.
Haiku
Thank you Carol, glad you liked it. We must all grab the wisdom.
