Local Writers’ Word Festival 2011

– CALL FOR ENTRIES Submissions close Friday 4 November

The annual Local Writer’s Word Festival is seeking entries from budding authors to be included in this year’s festival. We invite submissions from small-press or self-published authors of fiction, non-fiction or poetry living in the Woollahra Municipality or neighbouring municipalities. Ten shortlisted writers will be selected to present their work at the festival on Saturday 26 November.

The Local Writers’ Word Festival is about celebrating local, emerging talent. We’re giving writers the chance to have their work judged by industry professionals and providing a platform to showcase their work. Ten shortlisted writers will be interviewed in front of festival audiences and have the chance to sell their work on the day. Cash prizes of $500 for best fiction, non-fiction and poetry are up for grabs. For full Terms & Conditions for entry and to download an application form please visit http://www.woollahra.nsw.gov.au/library/events

Not submitting any entries? Members of the public are also welcome to attend the festival. Come along to hear exclusive talks by Australian authors, poets and industry heads, attend workshops on how to get published and meet some emerging local talent at this exciting community event.

Whether you’re an aspiring writer seeking recognition for your work or just interested in hearing talks by Australia’s leading writers, the Local Writers’ Word Festival is not to be missed. Places are limited and pre-purchased tickets are essential.
