As one of the Graduate Scholars at the International Conference on the Book in Toronto last October, I was approached to pullb together a monograph for publication based upon several keynotes delivered since 2007.
The themes for the as yet untitled monograph is looking at book publishing in the digital era. I suggested that members of this group might be interested in contributing chapters (3-5,000 words) on academic publishing in Creative Writing and Creative works. Do we aspire for the broadest possible dissemination of our research and practice, via Creative Commons and digital archiving or do we continue supporting the more expensive and threatened genre of hard copy journals. And where does e-journals sit? Or the referreeing process?
Is publishing used by academics for career advancement or in the purest sense of collegiality and "standing on the shoulders of giants"?
The monograph's chapters and final submission will be refereed by members of the International Conference on the Book referee list and published by Common Ground publishing.
To facilitate the speediest possible publication with a definitive 'go ahead' and pre-publicity luanch at the Conference on the Book in Barcelona in June, I need abstracts (around 500-750 words) by end of February. Both HDR candidates and faculty are encouraged to begin their new ERA mark 3 profiles.
