AAWP Annual Conference Prize for Best Post-Grad Paper .... coming up in 2011!

Do you like penning interesting, scholarly articles about writing, writing theory, pedagogy, aesthetics, ethics and other such realms of thinking and making?

Are you looking for conferences that are welcoming to post-grads, but scholarly, rigorous and full of great ideas and minds? Conferences that include a solid, helpful refereeing process?

Each year at their annual conference, the AAWP (Australasian Association of Writing Programs) selects the best post-grad paper (great for the CV). The conference this year will be held in the lush surrounds of Byron Bay, New South Wales, and you can go here for the conference page and to submit an abstract. Deadline late June.

If you want to make membership more affordable for yourself, then encourage your university to join the AAWP as an institutional member (go here).

Here are the names of past winners, and links to their papers, published in the refereed conference proceedings (just go down the list to their name for a PDF):

Gay Lynch & Antonia Pont - joint winners (2007)

Brooke Davis (2009)

Michelle Hamadache (2010)

YOUR NAME COULD BE HERE.... (2011)

If funding is an issue, stay tuned to the AAWP website, where details of possible subsidies and other things will be made known.

Go on.... submit an abstract, and perhaps we'll see you at this year's conference. As well as surfing, eating hippy treats, and writing poetry from your hammock, there will also be much seriousness going on....
