I just published Jeff Lassen's "Desert Creek', a novella about a post-apocalytic western murder. Jeff is still alive and kicking although with terminal cancer he is taking one day at a time. While he loved seeing his novella finally in print, he was upset I hadn't killed off the barking dogs.
I love short stories. I love to write them and I enjoy reading good ones. I think I am not alone and I am sure there are many more short story lovers out there. So how come we don't see as many short stories as we once did? I believe the market is still there but it is the medium that has caused the change.
Following my last blog post about immortality and the great responses and comments, I post this update. Earlier this year I published 'This Poor Collection' on Lulu.com on behalf of Jeff Lassen. Jeff by the way is still alive and defying his doctor's predictions of his life expectancy.
I was asked by a man I had met in person just once, some years ago, to be his literary executor. He then sent me all of his writing, poems, short stories, story ideas and finished manuscripts. He gave me written authority to do with them as I wished and to take the income, less 50% for his widow, if there ever be any to be taken, as my own.
